Additional Information

In August 2011 we started the Friendship Club which has grown from strength to strength. This club is for people who have lost loved ones, or whose friends or relatives have moved and are a little apprehensive about getting out again and meeting new people. Did you/they enjoy socialising, taking holidays and day trips with a partner or friends? Would you/they like to meet people who find themselves in a similar situation? We arrange day excursions and holidays for our members, so nobody feels they are on their own. Now, the Friendship Club has reached over 900 members. It is free to join! Please ask for details.

DAY 1 We depart home area and make our way to St. Albans. Time here to look around the shops and purchase lunch, then maybe take the opportunity to visit the stunning Cathedral. Afterwards we head to Maidenhead where we check into our stay at the Holiday Inn. Enjoy a swim in the hotel’s indoor swimming pool or relax with a drink at the bar, followed by time to freshen up for our evening meal.
DAY 2 After breakfast spend the morning at leisure in Maidenhead, a large market town situated on the bank of the River Thames. Time to browse the shops before our included river cruise from Maidenhead to Windsor. While cruising along the river enjoy a cup of tea/coffee and a slice of cake. Afterwards, spend the rest of the afternoon in Windsor with time to purchase lunch in one of the many restaurants. Opportunity to visit Windsor castle (price not included, approx. £20 pp) or sit by the river and watch the world go by. Return to hotel with time to freshen up before our evening meal. Tonight we can join in on a fun quiz night hosted by our Courier!
DAY 3 After breakfast we travel a short distance to the pretty town of Henley on Thames. See the pub that rejected Norman Wisdom as they said he was too small! There are many quaint individual shops to look around and we can enjoy lunch in one of the many restaurants overlooking the river. Afterwards, re-join the coach and travel a short distance to Turville, where Vicar of Dibley was filmed. Take a look in the villages St Mary the Virgin Church where Dawn French was a ‘vicar’ for 13 years! See the cottages where a lot of the characters were believed to have lived. It is a lovely village to look around with lots of history. Afterwards enjoy a drink in the local public house before returning to the hotel for our evening meal. Tonight we are treated to
some games and a prize bingo, hosted by our Courier.
DAY 4 After breakfast return to home area stopping at Syon Park House & Gardens. Syon House is the spectacular London home of the Duke of Northumberland. The house was built in the sixteenth century on the site of the Medieval Syon Abbey, and came to the family of the present owners in 1594. Syon Park has 600 years of history, dating back to the time of the great medieval Abbey. Yet there is an earlier story, stretching back through the Roman era, and into prehistory. Syon Park contains a great variety in a relatively small area, from Gardens and Arboretum through to parkland and the unique tidal water meadows. Lunch can be purchased in the Garden Kitchen Restaurant before our return journey home.
