COACH HOLIDAY ITINERARY
DAY 1 Travel to South Wales making suitable stops along the way, including somewhere suitable to purchase lunch. Arrive at the Mercure Swansea Hotel for our overnight stay, with time to freshen up before our evening meal.
DAY 2 After breakfast travel to Fishguard where we spend the morning at leisure. Fishguard stands at the mouth of the River Gwaun
in a natural harbour in the heart of Pembrokeshire National Park. It is a typical fishing village with a short tidal quay. There is a range of
independent boutiques and stores to browse. Then we board the Irish Sea crossing (approx 3 hours) to Rosslare. Lunch can be purchased on the ferry today. Afterwards, continue to the Quality Hotel in Youghal, which will be our hotel for the next 4 nights.
DAY 3 After breakfast travel to Kinsale to enjoy a 1 hour guided walking tour of the historic port and fishing town, where we learn of its links to Robinson Crusoe, polar explorers and pirates! After our tour, we have time at leisure and opportunity to purchase lunch before visiting Blarney Castle, the home of the world-famous Blarney Stone. For over 200 years, world statesmen, literary giants, and legends of the silver screen have joined the millions of pilgrims climbing the steep steps to kiss the Blarney Stone and gain the gift of eloquence. An experience never to forget. Afterwards visit the Blarney Woollen Mills for Irish gifts, Wool & Aran sweaters, Irish crystal, Celtic jewellery and much more, before returning to the hotel for our evening meal.
DAY 4 After breakfast we visit the Titanic Experience in Cobh. Located in the original White Star Ticket office, the building is steeped in history and was the departing point for thousands of White Star Line passengers. We enjoy a personal guided tour that will take us on a virtual journey to board the tenders and join the Titanic for her maiden voyage to New York. In the afternoon we take a short, scenic ferry ride from Cobh to Spike Island which over the last 1,300 years has been home to a 6th century monastery, a 24-acre fortress and the largest convict depot in the world. We enjoy a fully guided 1 hour tour of the island and fortress with some time to explore at leisure. Return to hotel where we can relax, perhaps with a pre-dinner drink, before our evening meal.
DAY 5 After breakfast we visit the famous Jameson Experience at the Irish whiskey museum and visitor centre located in the Old Midleton Distillery. Enjoy a 75 minute guided tour which will include a film, walking tour and a Jameson signature drink. We return to Youghal with its miles of sandy beaches for some free time this afternoon. Return to the hotel later for our evening meal.
DAY 6 After breakfast we say farewell to Youghal and visit Lismore Castle Gardens. Spread over seven acres, the historic gardens are divided into two very distinct and different halves. The Upper Garden is a complete example of the 17th-century walled garden first constructed here by Richard Boyle, the First Earl of Cork, in about 1605. The Lower Garden was mostly created in the 19th century for the Sixth Duke of Devonshire, Joseph Paxton’s patron. This garden is informal with shrubs, trees and lawns while the stately Yew Avenue is much older. Afterwards, travel to Rosslare for the sea crossing to Fishguard. We have an included meal on board the ferry this evening. Afterwards, travel via coach to the overnight hotel accommodation in Swansea.
DAY 7 After breakfast, return to home area making suitable comfort stops along the way including somewhere suitable to
