COACH HOLIDAY ITINERARY
DAY 1 Depart home area and head for Snowdonia making suitable comfort stops along the way. Arrive at the hotel where we have a cup of tea/coffee followed later by our evening meal.
DAY 2 After breakfast visit Bodnant Gardens, one of the most spectacular and admired gardens in Britain. With intimate corners, sweeping lawns, grand terraces and verdant woodland, there are many gardens in one at Bodnant. Created over 150 years, with plants collected and brought to Britain from far afield, and the incredible vision of generations of the McLaren family and Puddle head gardeners, this haven of rarity and beauty with a stunning backdrop of the Carneddau mountains of Snowdonia is a delight for the senses. There is a tea room on site for us to purchase lunch whilst exploring this lovely place. We head back to the hotel later for our evening meal.
DAY 3 After breakfast we embark on a diesel train journey on the Snowdon Mountain Railway; a journey of a lifetime to the rooftop of Wales. An experience above anything else, visitors have been travelling to Llanberis to experience this unique rail journey to the Summit of the highest mountain in Wales and England since 1896. These ancient Snowdonian mountains, thrust upwards by volcanic forces 450 million years ago, once grew to heights of 10,000 metres. Over eons the wind and rain and successive ice ages have sculpted them to their current form. This afternoon we travel to the village of Portmeirion for free time and to purchase lunch. Sitting at the feet of Snowdonia it makes for a charming dislocation that is truly unique.
DAY 4 After breakfast we check out of the hotel and travel south to Carmarthen, stopping for free time in the beautiful town of Rhayader in the Upper Wye Valley. We arrive at the Ivy Bush Hotel with time to freshen up before our evening meal.
DAY 5 After breakfast visit Picton Castle & Gardens, Pembrokeshire’s finest stately home. Here we have a 50-minute guided tour of the Castle as well as time to explore the galleries & grounds. Purchase lunch here before moving onto the picturesque harbour town of Tenby for free time this afternoon. We head back to the hotel later ready for our evening meal.
DAY 6 After breakfast we travel to the Royal Mint Experience for our factory tour. This is the only place in the world where you can watch the United Kingdom’s coins being made. Go behind the scenes to follow the journey of a coin from a blank to a bank and experience the sights, sounds and smells of thousands of glistening new coins, hot off the press. Afterwards we head towards the Brecon Beacons National park and visit the famous Penderyn Distillery Visitor Centre, which produces award-wining single malt whiskies and spirits. We will be greeted by a tour guide upon arrival who will take us through the exhibition area and distillery, followed by some tastings before returning to the hotel ready for our evening meal.
DAY 7 After breakfast we head for home stopping in Cardiff, the Capital of Wales, for lunch to be purchased. This city offers spectacular shopping as well as many eateries.
