Day 1
UK to Porto, Portugal
We depart the home area and travel to Gatwick Airport for our flight to Porto. On arrival, our transfer takes us to the ship where a welcome glass of sparkling wine awaits us in our cabins. After settling in, we are invited to attend a welcome cocktail meeting and meet the crew. Dinner on board.
Day 2
Porto to Régua
Our journey begins with a guided discovery tour of Porto. Crossing the iconic Dom Luís I Bridge, we visit the city’s 12th-century cathedral and stroll into the atmospheric old town, where narrow, winding alleyways are lined with colourful houses. At São Bento train station we admire its magnificent azulejos, traditional Portuguese tiles that tell stories from the nation’s history We continue past the Clérigos Tower and finish in Vila Nova de Gaia for a port wine cellar visit and tasting, before returning to our ship for lunch and a leisurely afternoon cruising towards Régua.
Day 3
Régua to Vega de Terrón
This morning we relax on board as the scenery glides by. Later, we explore the medieval fortified town of Castelo Rodrigo, perched dramatically 670 metres above sea level. Meandering through cobbled streets and past 16th-century houses with Manueline-style windows, we uncover the moving history of the Jewish community during the Spanish Inquisition and visit the local church. Surrounded by breathtaking views, we return to the ship and continue cruising to Vega de Terrón. Evening entertainment rounds off the day.
Day 4
Salamanca
Today we enjoy a full-day excursion to the “Golden City” of Salamanca, famed for its glowing honey-coloured sandstone architecture. A guided walking tour introduces us to the city’s highlights, including its magnificent cathedral and renowned university, one of the oldest in the world. Afterward, there is free time to soak up the vibrant atmosphere and lively student culture before returning to the ship for dinner and evening entertainment.
Day 5
Barca d’Alva to Pinhão
We spend the morning cruising before setting off to the charming town of Lamego, nestled among the terraced slopes of the Douro Valley. Known for its elegant squares and Baroque architecture, Lamego is crowned by a striking shrine that overlooks the town. Explore the medieval walls, the 13thcentury keep and atmospheric old streets before rejoining the ship in time for dinner.
Day 6
Pinhão to Régua
Our excursion today takes us to the Casa dos Viscondes da Várzea, where we are welcomed for an exclusive cultural experience. We begin with a delicious lunch of regional specialities enjoyed alongside local farmers, followed by a chance to explore the picturesque vineyards. Here, experts share their passion for winemaking and explain the traditions that have shaped the region. It is an authentic and memorable way to discover the Douro Valley’s heritage.
Day 7
Régua to Porto
This morning is spent cruising as we return to Porto. In the afternoon we explore Braga, a historic gem often referred to as the "Portuguese Rome." With its Roman roots, ornate baroque churches, fountains, lively squares and elegant façades, the city blends tradition with modern vitality. Wander through the old town, explore its heritage and enjoy the unique atmosphere before rejoining the ship for our farewell gala dinner with entertainment.
Day 8
Porto to UK
After breakfast we disembark and transfer to Porto Airport for our return flight to Gatwick, where our coach will be waiting to return us to the home area.

MS PORTO MIRANTE
Specially adapted to the special features of the Douro and its locks, the upper and middle decks have French balconies and all cabins face outwards, guests have access to two restaurants and a fitness room with state-of-the-art equipment. In addition, the newest Douro ship in the fleet has a panoramic lounge with bar and a skylounge that extends over two decks. Other features of the ship include an on-board store, a spacious sun deck with a pool and sun loungers. An elevator connects all decks (except the sun deck). The ship is fully air-conditioned.
