Day 1
UK to Rudesheim, Germany.
Crossing the channel by Eurotunnel we travel through France, Belgium and into Germany, making suitable refreshment stops before our arrival at our overnight hotel in Rudesheim in time to freshen up before our evening meal.
Day 2
Rudesheim to Vienna, Austria.
After breakfast we continue through Germany and into Austria making suitable refreshment stops and arrive in Vienna to our overnight hotel with time to relax before your evening meal.
Day 3
Vienna, Austria.
After breakfast join Karen for a coach and walking tour and experience the delights of Vienna, the capital of Austria. Grand palaces, baroque castles, magnificent squares and striking monuments are just some of the key features of this beautiful city, which is a World Heritage site. Karen will talk to you about St. Stephens Cathedral, an impressive cathedral from the outside as from the inside and the world-famous Lipizzaner stallions located at the Spanish Riding School located inside the Hofburg. Time to purchase lunch with free time here in Vienna before we board our ship at 4pm. After comfortably settling into your cabins, you will be introduced to the crew with a welcome cocktail followed by your evening meal.
Day 4
Vienna - Passau.
Today you’ll cross the Strudengau and Nibelungengau regions, the most beautiful part of the Danube. We arrive in Passau, Lower Bavaria, a university town with a rich musical and theatrical heritage. Passau’s beautiful baroque buildings and romantic narrow streets are unforgettable. Enjoy free time or a tour of the town with the ship’s hostess. We’ll return on board for dinner and continue our cruise to Regensburg.
Day 5
Passau - Regensburg - Nuremburg.
This morning, our ship will cruise towards the charming UNESCO city of Regensburg. We’ll arrive early afternoon in Regensburg. Enjoy a city tour of Regensburg, full of medieval history, there are 1,500 listed monuments which have stood the test of centuries. Walk over Regensburg’s famous 12th century pedestrian stone bridge, said to be the model for other famous Medieval bridges in Prague and Avignon. At the highest point of the bridge is the Bruckmandle statue, installed in the mid 1500’s it depicts a half-naked man shielding his eyes, believed to be a reference to the scorching hot summer of 1135, the year the bridge was started. Walk along the Haidplatz, a triangular square in the centre of the old town, the scene of jousting tournaments in the middle ages. Visit Scots’ Monastery which was set up in the 1000’s by Irish missionaries, and right up to the 19th century was run by Irish and Scottish monks. After our visit, we’ll return to the ship in Kelheim and continue cruising towards Nuremberg. Enjoy an evening of onboard entertainment after dinner. Our ship will sail through the night.
Day 6
Nuremberg - Rothenburg - Bamberg.
We arrive early in Nuremberg this morning visit the Hauptmarkt, the main marketplace, a lively square located in the city centre. Take a stroll around the market to see the fresh products and sample some genuine street food such as bratwurst. Nuremberg is famous for its sausages and gingerbread, don’t miss the Schöner Brunnen (beautiful fountain), one of the city’s prettiest landmarks situated in the marketplace. Take a walk around the old town which restored to its original state after WWII and now home to an impressive number of historical buildings and museums, the Nuremberg Castle, Saint-Sebald Church, Albrecht Dürer’s House and the Toy Museum are just a few of the stunning sites that can be visited in this quaint maze of cobblestoned streets. Don’t miss the outstanding row of colourful half-timbered houses on Weissgerbergasse. After our visit, we return to the ship in Erlangen in time for lunch. Our afternoon will be spent cruising with entertainment and activities provided on board. Enjoy an evening of dancing after dinner.
Day 7
Bamberg - Rothenburg - Würzburg.
This morning, our ship will cruise towards Schweinfurt. After lunch visit Rothenburg, Germany’s best-preserved wall town, set up high on the hills over the river - its narrow streets are lined with picturesque half-timbered houses, don’t miss the famous glockenspiel at the Town Hall or the equally famous Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas shop. The town walls include many preserved gate houses and more than 40 towers. We’ll return on board in Gerlachshausen and our cruise will continue to Würzburg, arriving during the night. Enjoy an evening of entertainment after dinner.
Day 8
Würzburg - Wertheim.
Today we visit Würzburg. See the remarkable and well-preserved Baroque Würzburg Residence, palace of the Prince-Bishops, one of the most important baroque palaces in Europe and today it is on UNESCO’s World Heritage list, containing true masterpieces such as the monumental Great Staircase and the ceremonial apartments. We’ll return on board in Karlstadt and enjoy lunch before our afternoon cruise towards Wertheim.
Day 9
Wertheim - Miltenberg - Ascaffenburg. In the morning we arrive in Miltenberg. Enjoy free time to discover this charming, very typical German village: the market square, half-timbered houses, the Main Street and former Town Hall all ensure Miltenberg deserves its nickname of "Pearl of the Main". This afternoon, our ship will cruise towards Aschaffenburg.
B, L, DDay 10
Aschaffenburg - Frankfurt - Mainz.
Today we visit of Frankfurt also known as "Mainhattan": the nickname was given because of the river that crosses it as well as the town’s status of largest financial center in continental Europe. A panoramic tour will allow you to go up the Main Tower, the most famous all-glass skyscraper in the city. We’ll return on board and continue our cruise to Mainz. Mainz lies at the confluence of the Rhine and the Main is a perfect blend of past and present. We’ll arrive at the end of the afternoon, join us for a discovery tour of the town with our onboard hostess. Tonight is our gala evening and dinner. Our ship will sail towards Strasbourg through the night.
Day 11
Mainz - Strasbourg.
This morning, our ship will sail towards Strasbourg. There will be entertainment and activities on board. We’ll cruise the Rhone-Rhine Canal, passing through the locks in Iffezheim and Gambsheim, arriving in Strasbourg at 2:00 p.m. We depart our ship and travel to our overnight hotel in Saarbrucken Sudd.
Day 12
Saarbrucken Sudd, Germany - UK.
After breakfast we return to home area via the crossing the channel via Eurotunnel and making suitable refreshment stops.
