Motor, Steam & Cruise around Worcester

Day 1

Depart home area and visit Chipping Norton, the highest town in Oxfordshire which has a delightful array of shops including several antique shops. There is a variety of restaurants to purchase lunch and time to explore before heading to our hotel with time to freshen up before our evening meal.

Day 2

This morning, we spend time at leisure in the attractive market town of Ledbury, full of timber framed buildings. Look out for the 17th century black and white Market House and the much-photographed cobbled medieval street where the Heritage Centre, Butchers Row Folk Museum and the Painted Room leading to the fine parish church can be found. From here, we make our way to the beautiful spa town of Malvern, home of the Morgan Motor Company for over 100 years. We enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of the factory, watching the skilled craftsmen at work as they hand make the famous Morgan sports cars.

Day 3

We travel to Witley Court this morning where we enjoy a 1-hour guided tour of the estate house and gardens. Once one of the great country houses of Victorian England, attracting fashionable society when it was the setting for extravagant parties and royal entertainment, the house was devastated by fire in 1937. Today, the spectacular ruins provide evidence of the opulence
and scale of the architecture and interiors whilst the beautifully restored parterres, garden and fountain provide a relaxing retreat. From here, we head to Worcester where we have free time for
lunch before we set off on a circular river cruise through one of England’s loveliest cities.

Day 4

After breakfast, we head for Kidderminster to board a Severn Valley steam train to Bridgnorth. There will be plenty of opportunity to admire the beautiful Shropshire and Worcestershire countryside from our carriage. After our journey we drive to the thriving medieval market town of Ludlow, a historic town surrounded by the beautiful countryside of south Shropshire and the Welsh Marches. We have free time to have lunch and explore.

Day 5

We depart our hotel and head home, stopping in Shakespeare’s Stratford Upon Avon, steeped in culture and history. Set in the beautiful rural Warwickshire countryside, on the banks of the River Avon, it is a perfect place to browse the many shops, walk along the banks of the river and obtain lunch in one of the many restaurants.
