Magical Isle of Man

Magical Isle of Man

Fully Escorted!

Book Now

It was once believed that the Isle of Man’s location, in the centre of the Irish Sea, was because an English giant stole a woman away from an Irish giant, Finn MacCoul, who was so furious that he threw rocks at his rival. He clearly did not use enough force, hence the rocks landing in the sea, midway between Ireland and England. And thus, the magical story of the Isle of Man begins. Join us on this inspirational tour of this remarkable, self-governing island.

Day 1

We enjoy a continental breakfast on board the coach as we travel northwards to Heysham, for our ferry crossing making suitable comfort stops along the way. The hotel is a short drive away from Douglas Harbour.

B, D

Day 2

After breakfast we board our tramcar at the Manx Electric Railway in Douglas, which has been operating for more than 125 years, and travel in Victorian style to Laxey to explore the north of the island. On arrival we walk a short distance to the Laxey Wheel. This feat of Victorian engineering and ingenuity is the largest surviving waterwheel of its kind in the world. Watch the mighty wheel turn and climb to the top for panoramic views across Glen Mooar Valley. Afterwards we board the Snaefell Mountain Railway running from the village of Laxey to the summit of Snaefell, the only mountain on the Island. The railway winds its way up 2000ft to the top of Snaefell. It is the only place in the British Isles where you can see seven kingdoms on a clear day - England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Heaven, Mann and the Sea just by turning around.

B, D

Day 3

This morning we enjoy a horse drawn tram ride along Douglas Promenade, the Douglas Horse Trams have been in existence on the Isle of Man since 1876. We have some time at leisure after our tram ride before joining our coach for the Isle of Man Steam Railway from Douglas. Here we board the longest narrow gauge steam line in Britain that still uses its original locomotives and carriages to Castletown. Time allowed in Castletown to purchase refreshments before we continue a scenic drive to the most southernly part of the Island to The Sound with outstanding views out to the Calf of Man. Opportunity to purchase refreshments in the friendly café.

B, D

Day 4

Enjoy a free day in Douglas. Opportunity to visit the Manx Museum which tells the story of the Isle of Man from prehistoric times to the present day. (Entry extra). Take a walk along the promenade and visit the new Bee Gees Statue (the Bee Gees were born on the Isle of Man) or take a walk around the many delightful shops.

B, D

Day 5

After breakfast we visit Peel, a seaside town and fishing port, opportunity to purchase morning refreshments, browse the shops or visit Peel Castle ruins and learn about its history (entry extra). Afterwards we visit Milntown House, set in the beautiful parish of Lezayre and is the Island's only historic estate and boasts 15 acres of beautiful gardens and woodlands which surround the magnificent mansion and café at its heart. We have a guided tour of the house and self-guided tour of the gardens and enjoy an included afternoon tea before returning to our hotel.
