Day 1

Depart home area and travel to elegant Harrogate via Newark-on- Trent.

Day 2

Enjoy a scenic drive through Pateley Bridge in Nidderdale, followed by a visit to Thirsk, home of James Herriot, with its charming market square and traditional shops. Return to Harrogate for time at leisure and the chance to enjoy afternoon tea at Betty’s (extra cost).

Visit Grassington, a picturesque Dales village with cobbled streets and cosy cafés, then continue to Skipton, the “Gateway to the Dales”, with its lively market* and castle. Enjoy a canal cruise with cream tea.

Spend the day in York, exploring York Minster, the Shambles, and the National Railway Museum (entries extra).

Visit the charming market town of Pateley Bridge before continuing to Thirsk, forever associated with veterinary author James Herriot. Browse traditional shops, cafés and the attractive market square at the heart of this quintessential Yorkshire town.

Return to Harrogate with free time to explore. Perhaps visit the famous Bettys Café Tea Rooms, one of Yorkshire’s most iconic tea rooms, for a traditional afternoon tea experience.

Discover the picturesque village of Grassington, famous for its cobbled streets, stone cottages and welcoming atmosphere. Continue to the bustling market town of Skipton, often referred to as the “Gateway to the Dales”. Explore its lively market, independent shops and historic castle surroundings.

A highlight of the holiday is a relaxing cruise along the historic Leeds and Liverpool Canal, complete with a delicious cream tea whilst admiring the tranquil Yorkshire scenery.

Spend a day exploring the historic city of York, one of England’s most fascinating destinations. Wander through the famous Shambles, admire the magnificent York Minster, browse excellent shops or visit the renowned National Railway Museum.
