Join us on this lovely tour to the Trossachs to see the spectacular carpet of bluebells which thrive in the Scottish Highlands, around the lochs, in the woods, in the countryside and between the parks at this time of year. We have included some wonderful excursions to make this holiday truly unforgettable.

 

Day 1

Travel to Scotland making suitable comfort stops along the way. Arrive at the Winnock Hotel where we receive a warm welcome with a drinks reception, before our evening meal.

Day 2

After breakfast travel into the Trossachs National Park. We travel via Aberfoyle to the beautiful Loch Katrine where we enjoy a 2-hour cruise on board SS Sir Walter Scott. This cruise shows us what this stunning site has to offer. From the atmospheric Ben Venue and Ellen’s Isle to the historic site of Queen Victoria’s Royal Cottage, this sailing instils the beauty and heritage of the Trossach. perfectly. Afterwards, time to purchase lunch at the lochside café. Afterwards we visit Callander, a pretty town situated on the River Teith. Set dramatically beneath high, wooded crags, the colourful town is crammed with tearooms and souvenir shops. After some time at leisure, we return to the hotel arriving with time to relax before our evening meal and entertainment.

Day 3

We set off to the delightful nearby 16th century Duntreath Castle at Blanefield. Here, we will be met by Lady Edmonstone and Sir Archie who will show us around their home. Afterwards enjoy morning coffee and some home-baking, after which we are free to explore the castle, grounds and time at leisure. We return to Drymen for lunch to be obtained. In the afternoon we travel a short distance to Loch Lomond Shores, a chic lochside mall with upscale boutiques, department store plus cafes where you can sit and have a cup of tea overlooking the Loch.

Day 4

This morning we travel a short journey to Loch Lomond for our 2-hour sailing on the Loch with a surprise landing on Inch Cailloch with refreshments. Time here to explore the bluebells growing in the Island’s ancient woodland. Afterwards travel by coach along the shores of Loch Lomond to Inveraray Castle, a must-see visitor attraction on the west coast. Inveraray is easily one of the most iconic castles in Scotland. Enjoy time at leisure to explore the castle, which was the chosen location for the Downton Abbey Christmas 2012 episode! The gardens are well worth a visit, covering sixteen acres, two of which are formal lawns and flowerbeds. Opportunity to purchase lunch and afternoon tea here before returning to your hotel. Tonight, enjoy your hotel entertainment.

Day 5

Bid farewell to Scotland and return to home area, making suitable comfort stops along the way.
