The Spectacular Pyrenees & Andorra

Andorra, although a small country, has a fascinating history and culture. Situated in the heart of the Pyrenees with France to the north and Spain to the south, Andorra boasts stunning scenery with rugged mountains and crystal-clear lakes. You will be sure to bring back some happy memories.

Day 1

We cross by Eurotunnel to our over night hotel, Ibis Orleans Centre Hotel with time to freshen up before our evening meal.

Day 2

After breakfast we continue our journey through France and into the Pyrenees. We will see some fantastic scenery today as we travel through the Pyrenees Wildlife Park. We then cross the border into Andorra and arrive at our hotel early evening, suitable refreshment stops will be made on route. Enjoy a glass of Sangria on arrival. Time to relax and enjoy a pre-dinner drink before our evening meal.

Day 3

Today we travel through spectacular scenery and enjoy a tour of Andorra’s four scenic valleys: La Massana, Ordino, Pal and Escaldes. We have time at leisure to explore Andorra’s capital, Andorra la Vella, with its wealth of shops and designer boutiques. Don’t forget to explore the Barri Antic (old town) square in the original heart of the town when it was little more than a village. Other attractions include the 16th century Casa de la Vall, the old parliament building, court and prison. We return to our hotel for our evening meal followed by musical entertainment.

Day 4

We leave the principality today and head over the Spanish border through the Catalan countryside, to the village of Ribes de Freser. From here we will wind our way up the mountain on the historic rack railway to picture-perfect Vall de Núria. From here, at 2000m above sea level, we will enjoy spectacular views. We then return to our hotel via La Molina, one of the area’s mountain resorts.

Day 5

This morning we cross the border into Spain, to the pretty town od La Seu d’Urgell, historically one of the most important cities in medieval Catalonia. Full of Romanesque architecture, attractions include the Santa Maria Cathedral. We then visit the riverside town of Puigcerdà. On the border with France, the town has interesting monuments as well as lovely sunny sidewalk cafes. Our next stop is the French Pyrenean ski resort of Font Romeu before we return to Andorra via the Port d’Envalira mountain pass.

Day 6

We depart Andorra and commence our homeward journey by re-tracing our outward one. There will be time to freshen up before our evening meal at our overnight hotel in Orleans.

Day 7

After breakfast we catch our return Eurotunnel crossing, making suitable comfort stops, arriving back to home area in the evening.

This modern 4-star luxury hotel is situated in a quiet location in the picturesque town of El tarter and is beautifully decorated in a chalet-style throughout, with a few quirky features such as a collection of vintage vehicles parked throughout the spacious reception area! All bedrooms have a balcony. The modern restaurant and bar areas are both spacious and the outdoor pool and terrace offer lovely views of the surrounding mountains. The food is buffet style with so much choice. There is an amazing amount of choice. The chefs even cook your steak to your liking while you watch.
