Stratford Upon Avon Delights, Overnight Break

Join us on this overnight break visiting some of Stratford Upon Avon’s top tourist attractions. Enjoy a cruise on the river Avon, visit Shakespeare’s Schoolroom and find out about its hidden secrets, participate in a walking tour in the evening to see the sinister side of Shakespeare’s Stratford where you will be shocked and surprised.

Day 1

Depart home area and arrive in Stratford Upon Avon for our exclusive cruise on board a traditional Edwardian passenger launch. We will cruise downstream on the River Avon past the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and Holy Trinity Church (the site of Shakespeare’s tomb) and upstream passing the 15th century Clopton Bridge. Once through the bridge, the scenery changes as we discover peaceful riverbanks and meadows with glimpses of large, secluded houses and beautiful river-side gardens. Free time afterwards to purchase lunch in one of the many eateries nearby. This afternoon we visit Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall where we will enjoy an immersive and authentic experience to engage in its unique story. We will see where our greatest playwright was inspired by literature and theatre for the very first time. Afterwards we check into our hotel with time to relax before our early dinner. This evening we meet our guide for a guided walking tour to see the sinister side of Stratford! We will be taken around the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon to hear tales of plague, murder, ghosts, and witches. We can enjoy a drink in the hotel bar before we retire for the evening.

Day 2

After breakfast there will be free time to explore Stratford Upon Avon at our own leisure. There are many delightful independent shops and tea rooms to tempt us. We depart midday to the village of Shottery to visit Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, twelve room farmhouse where Anne Hathaway, the wife of William Shakespeare lived as a child. It is one of the most beautiful, quintessentially English, little country cottages surrounded by the most beautiful and fragrantly filled gardens. Time to purchase refreshments before we depart for home area.
