COACH HOLIDAY ITINERARY
DAY 1 Depart home area and head to Folkestone for the Eurotunnel crossing to Calais. We travel through France, into Belgium and cross the border into Germany arriving in Cologne this afternoon, making suitable comfort stops. The hotel is in a fantastic location overlooking the River Rhine in Cologne. It is conveniently situated as it is within walking distance to a variety of restaurants for our evening meal to be purchased.
DAY 2 After breakfast enjoy a coach excursion along the scenic Rhine, visiting St Goar, a small quaint town across the Loreley in the Middle of the Rhine Valley and is home to one of the best places to buy a beer stein, clogs or cuckoo clocks. We continue to the charming town of Boppard, a UNESCO World Heritage location. It is a town of outstanding beauty. Walk along the quaint streets and sit in one of the many cafes and restaurants over-looking the Rhine and watch the world go by. Free time spent here, with an opportunity to enjoy a boat trip and even wine tasting (prices not included) before returning to Cologne where our evening meal can be purchased.
DAY 3 After breakfast, today we have a day at leisure in Cologne. Cologne’s Old Town has a distinctive historical charm. Visitors are drawn by its rustic narrow alleyways lined with traditional old houses. Innumerable breweries, pubs and restaurants invite passers-by to linger. Here we can enjoy a draft Kölsch beer or try Cologne’s typical Halver Hahn sandwich. Opportunity to visit the Lindt Chocolate Museum (price not included, approx. €10 pp). Take a walk along the Schildergasse – Cologne’s main shopping High Street. Visit the wonderful department stores before purchasing our evening meal.
DAY 4 After breakfast we travel along the Rhine to Koblenz. An ancient city in central Germany. In the centre, a monumental statue of William the Great marks the confluence of the Rhine and Mosele rivers. Opportunity to take the cable car to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. (price not included). Walk around the cobbled streets of this wonderful city and purchase lunch in one of the many restaurants. Return to Cologne for our evening meal to be purchased.
DAY 5 After breakfast travel back to Calais for the Eurotunnel crossing, stopping en-route somewhere suitable for lunch to be purchased. Arrive back to home area early evening.
