Cruise along the romantic Rhine Valley between historic castles and legendary landscapes, from Strasbourg to Amsterdam via Rüesheim and its renowned vineyards. Hear the fascinating story of the Lorelei rock before you reach Cologne, one of the oldest German cities. Visit Amsterdam, the city of canals and buildings of incredible architecture. This cruise will not fail to charm you.

Day 1

UK to Strasbourg. Making suitable refreshment stops we arrive in the north eastern part of France, Strasbourg, the European capital and the capital of Alsace, late afternoon, where we board our ship. Time to freshen up before the Captain’s welcome cocktail reception followed by 3 course dinner.

Day 2

Strasbourg to Rudesheim. Today we spend a morning leisurely cruising along the Rhine to Rüdesheim, located at the gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley. After lunch we visit this picture-book town, which has a long tradition of wine growing and the town is renowned for its Riesling and Pinot Noir wines. Overlooked by the towers of the ruined Ehrenfels Castle, a stroll along the charming paved Drosselgasse is a must. This famous 144m long lane is lined with traditional taverns, cafes and intimate courtyards where there is live music and dancing every day. Enjoy an included guided tour of Rüdesheim by touristic train and tasting of the famous wines of the region and guided visit of the Museum of Mechanical Musical Instruments. Tonight, after dinner, there will be on board entertainment.

Day 3

Rudesheim - Cologne - Dusseldorf. Today we cruise further along the Rhine and marvel en-route at some of the Rhine Valley’s most famous landmarks including the 130m high Lorelei Rock, named after the Rhine water siren, the legend of whom is as old as time itself, and the Mäuseturm, an ancient customs post now used as a beacon tower for shipping. We cruise pass Oberwesel. Goarhausen, Boppard and Koblenz and arrive in Cologne. There will be time to discover this fascinating city. Visit the famous Cologne Cathedral, a high Gothic five-aisled basilica or walk around the many shops or visit the chocolate museum located in the Rheinau harbour. We then set sail for Dusseldorf, a city in western Germany known for its fashion industry and art scene. It’s divided by the Rhine River, with its Altstadt (Old Town) on the east bank and modern commercial areas to the west. Tonight, there will be a fun night of evening entertainment on board ship.

Day 4

Dusseldorf - Amsterdam. Today we spend a day cruising and arrive Amsterdam, late afternoon. After dinner there is an optional excursion to Amsterdam by night on one of the glass top Canal boats. This is the best way to see Amsterdam.

Day 5

Amsterdam. After breakfast we’ll leave the ship by coach for a guided tour of the city. Amsterdam is one of the most unique and extraordinary cities in the world. From its romantic canals to its world-renowned museums and historical significance, it’s a city that never ceases to surprise. Our first stop will be the Riecker Windmill, a windmill located on the riverbanks of the Amstel River, south of the city. A statue of Rembrandt was erected close to this mill to remind us that the painter made many drawings on the banks of this river. Afterwards, we’ll head to the Diamond District to observe how the talented cutters facet the raw diamonds into the jewels we buy. Our guide will explain in detail how a diamond is valued. After our tour, you’ll be able to spend some time browsing the shop. We’ll hop back on our coach and continue on towards the Bloemenmarkt, the famous floating flower market. One of the most fragrant places in Amsterdam in any seasons thanks to its thousands of flowers and multitude of varieties, this unique market will make your head spin! At the end of our visit, we’ll return to the ship by coach for lunch. In the afternoon we visit the Volendam, a Dutch town on the Markermeer Lake, northeast of Amsterdam. It’s known for its colourful wooden houses and the old fishing boats in its harbour, which is lined with seafood vendors. Afterwardswe visit Zaanse Scahns. a residential area in which the 18th and 19th centuries are brought to life. Stroll past the bakery museum and enjoy the smell of fresh cookies or take a look at the warehouse where clogs are made. You should be sure not to miss the cheese factory, pewter foundry and the various windmills. The Zaanse Schans is a unique part of the Netherlands, full ofw ooden houses, mills, barns and workshops. We return to our ship with time to freshen up before our 4-course ‘Gala Dinner’ followed by entertainment.

Day 6

Amsterdam - UK. After breakfast we say a sad farewell to the crew and return to home area making suitable refreshment stops en route.
