Day 2

Today is market day* in Wells. Spend the morning browsing the stalls selling local produced arts, crafts and produce. Late morning we have an included entry to Bishop's Palace & Gardens, which has been home to the Bishop's of Bath and Wells for over 800 years. It is particularly notable for its exterior of sculptures granite, limestone and sandstone and the elaborate carved woodwork on the interior. This afternoon we visit nearby Cheddar Gorge and Caves, not only is it one of Britain's most spectacular natural landmarks, but also an Area of Outstanding Beauty. The Gorge boasts awe-inspiring cliffs and extraordinary subterranean stalactite show caves. We enjoy a 45-minute tour of Gough's Cave followed by opportunity to purchase refreshments.
