The Italian Riviera (or Ligurian Riviera) is the narrow coastal strip which lies between the Ligurian Sea and the mountain chain formed by the Maritime Alps and the Apennines. La Fete du Citron (Lemon Festival), is a unique event in the world and attracts many visitors, and it is easy to see why: it features designs up to 10 metres tall, incredible decorations and floats requiring over 140 tonnes of oranges and lemons. For three weeks, the Jardins Bioves (Bioves Gardens) and the streets are given over to these citrus giants. With processions of floats, gardens of lights and the exhibition of giant designs, come and discover this fantasy world come to life!

Day 1

Travel to Folkestone for the Eurotunnel crossing to Calais. Afterwards head to Kyriad, Beaune for, for our overnight stay making suitable comfort stops along the way. We have time to freshen up before our evening meal.

Day 2

After breakfast we continue our journey through France via Lyon and Chambery, then cross the border into Italy via Rivoli to Savona and take the Italian coastal road to our hotel in Diano Marina, making suitable stops along the way. Arrive at the main stay hotel in time to freshen up before our evening meal.

Day 3

After breakfast we visit the Riviera’s world-famous perfumery in the beautiful village of Eze, a ‘must see’ in the French Riviera. Discover the age-old expertise of the perfumer and the history of perfume during our guided tour. Afterwards we continue to Monaco, the world’s second smallest country (only the Vatican is smaller). It is bordered with France’s Alpes- Maritimes department on three sides with one side bordering the Mediterranean Sea. The Grimaldi family have ruled Monaco since 1297. It is home to an elegant belle-epoque casino complex and ornate Sale Garnier opera house; it also has many boutiques and restaurants.

Day 4

After breakfast travel to Nice Carnival. This year it will be the King of Cinema’s turn to be the centre of this unmissable event. Nice will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Victorine Studios, the Mecca of the film industry of the Cote dA’ zur, which since 1919 has welcomed Marcel Carne, Roger Vadim, Alfred Hitchcock, Woody Allen and many other talented directors. The Nice Carnival is 6 carnival parades made up of 17 floats and more than 1000 dancers and musicians from all over the world bringing this authentic and magical event to life. And what would the Nice Carnival be without its traditional flower parades or ‘battles’? On flower-decorated floats, admire the models with their extravagant costumes on the year’s theme and get ready to receive a constellation of varied flowers. Discover Nice today with all its colourful parades where we have an included tribune seat where we can sit and watch these glorious floats go by.

Day 5

After breakfast we visit the elegant town of Menton which hosts the fabulous Lemon Festival. Experience the sights and smells of this unique event. See the Golden Fruit Parade with entertainers, brass bands and folk groups heel, spin and dance between the magnificent citrus fruit floats. The Bioves Garden is a beautiful garden in Menton, set on the path of Caarei and is 800m long. Throughout the year there are lawns full of flowers and exotic trees. As it’s the Lemon Festival, the garden will be dressed to suit the occasion. Return to the hotel for our evening meal.

Day 6

Today we spend the day at leisure in Diano Marina. Opportunity to use the hotel leisure facilities or to walk along the beach front and take in the stunning views.

Day 7

After breakfast check out of our main stay hotel and return to our overnight hotel Kyriad in Beaune, making suitable comfort stops along the way. Arrive with time to freshen up before our evening meal.

Day 8

After breakfast return to Calais for the Eurotunnel crossing to Folkestone, making suitable comfort stops along the way before arriving back to home area this evening.
